Four States

Here's George loading up the last suitcase! After a bit of frustration with the new navigator in the new car that couldn't seem to find Zion National Park - we were off!

We headed across the Mojave desert

and were amazed at all of the Joshua Trees along the side of the road - a Joshua tree forest!

It has been a long, long time since we have driven to Las Vegas and we were pleasantly surprised with the excellent condition of I-15 from LA to Las Vegas - nice wide lanes, great separate truck lanes, and a very clean rest stop!

We zoomed past Las Vegas and I didn't get a pictures because I was driving at the time. Seventy-five mph speed limits took me a little getting used to!

Finally we reached our first major destination of the trip - Zion National Park!

We were amazed by the incredible beauty of the red rock formations. This was our first visit to the park.  It was wonderful to purchase a $10 senior lifetime pass to all of the national parks!

We were amazed to see these pine trees that appeared to be growing right out of the rock.

This is called the checkerboard

Today we traveled a little over 500 miles through four states - California, Nevada, a little slice of Arizona, and Utah.

It was a great day!
